Our Mission
XRF-FI exists to close the loop between formation intelligence and drilling execution. We integrate XRF-FI' real-time XRF formation analysis with WellSoft's AI drilling optimization to create a self-reinforcing system that gets measurably smarter with every well drilled.
We are not a software company that learned about drilling. We are a drilling company that built software — because we lived the problem firsthand and knew the industry deserved better than the status quo.

The Origin of the Closed Loop
The idea for XRF-FI emerged from a frustration shared by the founding teams at XRF-FI and WellSoft: both companies were delivering real value independently, but the full potential of their technologies was only realized when formation intelligence and drilling optimization worked together.
In 2023, XRF-FI and WellSoft ran a joint pilot in the Permian Basin — connecting XRF formation data directly to WellSoft's AI engine for the first time. The results were immediate and significant: landing accuracy improved by 36 points, NPT dropped by two-thirds, and ROP increased by 37% over the 12-well program.
XRF-FI was founded to make that closed loop available to every operator — not just those with the technical resources to build the integration themselves.
